My sister had the huge frost free 1961 version of this fridge -- and it was pink over factory white. Lighting in the upper section was across the top rear, provided by a special fluorescent tube that would function at low temperature. It always took at least a couple of blinks after the door was opened before remaining steadily lit.
Frost free models had a drain near the center of the freezer floor, with channels in the floor to direct the water. The floor was heated, along with the evaporator coils, during the defrost cycle. The floor heaters were prone to failure, and when they did, glaciers formed. Sears/Whirlpool came up with a clever heated retrofit trough and articulated channel that did away with water coming in contact with the floor.
These were well-appointed models and were barely audible when running.
