How hot do dryers get when being run at high temp? We are getting a new dryer and we are replacing the semi rigid ducting which is listed at 435F maximum operating temp. Answers are welcome!

The highest temp reviewed.com measured was 180°F on some GE dryers. Most seem to max out at around 150°F under normal conditions. Certainly not over 400°F.

Generally dryers in the US have a over temp sensor set to 190F. If the temperature gets at or above that temp, the element or burner will shut off and will not turn back on again until the over temp sensor is replaced. If it gets that hot, something is usually wrong.

Dryers need to reach approximately 160F to successfully de-wrinkle and restore creases in no iron clothing. Modern dryers rarely have exhaust temps of over 120F while the clothing is damp, but can reach higher temperatures once the clothing is dry and the dryer continues to provide heat. That wasted energy and is why even the most basic dryers have to provide an auto dry cycle that terminates once the fabrics are dry.
