I just wanted to let everyone know that in my search for parts for my 1959 Pink machines I found a 1956 (so they say it says somewhere on the machines) and they are "Aqua" color. I here they are asking $450 for the pair but I'm sure thats negotiable...she said the dryer for sure worked and thought the washer did but hasn't checked it out.....I can and will get the company name and telephone number for anyone who might be interested. they said they would also see what they could do about pictures but she herself didn't have a camera and it's about 4 hours from here or else I would go myself.. anyway hope this helps someone.
Tim

That is true, Maytag did not produce any turquoise washers or dryers until around 1960.

Just spoke with the seller. They are a pair of 142's. Washer is inops.

Seller not willing to budge with the price, and also does not care if they end up at the krushers.

He was not very nice to me and made it very clear he has no time for any chit chat involving vintage machines. Even when I explained to him that some of the machines he came across might be sold to collectors at much better prices than the krusher was paying him----he just cut me off in mid-sentence and dismissed the whole idea.

In any event, if you are truly interested in buying these machines you'd better hurry. This guy doesn't care if they do go to the krusher.
This guy told me to let everyone know NOT to bother him, so
if your not serious---don't call---or if you do--- you will see just how rude this guy can be.

Good Luck!

Steve ... That sort of behavior is terrible; I've experienced it a number of times around here.

You would think people would be more "generous" in their conversations with one another; especially when the dollar sign is involved. When I hear of business people behaving like this to a potential customer, I cringe. If they don't want my business then don't have something I want for sale!!

I don't know what it is about washers and dryers that seem to bring out the worst in some of these folks!

That's too bad, Steve. I guess his pockets are too full to mess around with 100 times the money the Krusher MIGHT pay him, if they pay anything at all.

As far as his rudeness goes, perhaps is is too busy to fool with any old machines. Perhaps he doesn't have a very happy life. I know Montana is a very beautiful place and all, but if you're unhappy, all the scenery in the world can't make your mood any better!

Go West young man, perhaps Castro is the place you should be!

Playing devils advocate only,I can see someone not wanting 30-40 phone calls from people only "window shopping",or dreaming about getting some vintage appliances.
Did he say what was wrong with the washer?

Kenny----

He was so hostile I never even discussed what might be wrong with the washer. I agree with you about his not wanting a bunch of time consuming phone calls from 30 or 40 people. However this guy's bad attitude went waaaaaaay beyond that. I think it is just part of doing business having to answer questions--- whether in person or by phone. It just comes with the territory.

When I called the first number the operator "Stacey" referred me to another number----as I was reading it back I made an error with one of the digits and she said" no, no, thats not what I said, the correct number is------- in the nastiest tone. So I would assume this whole place has a habit of being rude to people.

All I can say is they must be the only people in that city selling appliances----because as soon as a "friendly" competitor arrives these guys will be out of business! I would NEVER buy a damn thing from people like that. And I really had to keep my temper in check as it was.

You know what, why bother folks - there are plenty of other sources out there for our kind of goods, so who needs to deal with an imbicil like this who obviously had someone piss in his morning oatmeal. I think we all deserve to be treated better then what this bozo is capable of.

Tim----

No need for you to apologize. These things are always worth checking out. Sometimes they are just not worth bothering with---but we don't know untill we try.

Thanks Tim!
