Still working on the other Whirlpool, and this one shows up. Bright and shiny, this washer looks cared for. Older than the World Washer, I suppose pre 1992? Serial # CE4039359. Images to follow.

Don't like the look of this. Seems like the top of the agitator or something was rubbing the underside of the lid.

1993 model year, 40th week of 1995 per serial.

It looks to have the filter-barrel arrangement on the agitator (detach for cleaning).  Maybe it doesn't attach secure, floats upward and rubs on the lid during agitation.

Hey thanks DAoES. The filter sure is loose. I think you hit the nail on the head.

Do those have a siphon break for the drain? Since I cant find any decent wringer washers around here I would consider one for my shed. I want to be able to lower the drain hose so every drop of water is out and it wont freeze up over the winter

siphon break for the drain.....

Just use RV Antifreeze which can be found at Walmart for $3.00 or less for a gallon!
2-3 cups will do, just add to basket drain/spin for 30 seconds to mix with water in the pump area and you are set for the winter!

I was wondering if the RV antifreeze would work as next winter I am going south where there is no snow (anyone want to go?) I am closing this place right up and now know what to use for the washer and dishwasher, thanx.

I used the blue stuff for winterizing machines.....

never had it happen, but have been told to disconnect any fill hoses, and turn the machine on for a few seconds to release any water that may be inside of the valves....prevent them from freezing as well....

I tried out the washer, filled, agitated fine. Then spin cycle...the tub started to shake, rattle and bang around (it was empty). I immediately stopped it and it squeaked to a halt. The tub feels loose, you can lift it up a bit. Suspension rod? Can't be the dogs, it agitated perfectly. Sigh.

take the agitator out......

is the tub secured tightly to the spin shaft?...that bolt may need tightened down....or the spin hub may be worn and need replaced...

possible spring broken underneath?.....or broke from the base?

The agitator bolt was sorta loose, and the shaft bolt too. But there is a space between the end of the shaft bolt and tub. Almost like the tub had dropped down, or some other piece between the shaft bolt and tub is missing.

BTW, the tub is so loose, you can lift it right out. I don't think it's a spring Martin. The outer tub seems fine.

Broken basket drive block.  Relatively easy fix ... unless the tabs on the spin tube are also sheared off / worn down.

Oh wait! Doesn't the basket drive block have a lip where the basket rests? I bet mine sheered off.

OK, but appears the block may be worn down.  Pic #14, there's more thread showing above the spanner nut than usual.  Can't tell from the pics, is the nut in contact with the basket neck to hold it secure to the block? Does the basket wobble on the drive block when rocked by hand?  It shouldn't.  Pull the basket out for a pic of the entire drive block.
