Their reputation may have been tarnished a bit, but I will never forget the first time I saw a Maytag A806 in the basement appliance department of Macy's Herald Square in 1970. It was all white with accents of turquoise just like this one and those 13 buttons, like a string of pearls on a elegant matron's neck, underlined that exquisitely simple and functional panel: icons of the Mid-Western perfection from which it sprang. | ||
