Hans is right.

A black magic marker sign written on the box (when no one is looking) will certainly help.

Something like 'Hands off all cheap bastard slum lords. These are too good for the likes of your section 8 properties !'

I think just reminding them that parts are no longer available, might persuade them, too. ....and no warranty.

Parts may be a little difficult to find for the washer, but for the dryer it shouldn't be much of a problem, as it is essentially the same dryer Whirlpool is currently selling.
