Don't jump up and run to look at it when there is no pic. Ask for pics. Ask for their address. Depending on their responses and the way they respond, it helps to weed out the frauds. I had one recently giving away a GE frig near by. I wanted to stop and look. This ad had been up 3 weeks. Response was very general in description of location. No exact address and no interest in giving his phone or setting a time to pick up. I called him a fraud and trashed his message. |

NO, and as we've seen just because there is a pic. doesn't mean it's legit. But if a party can't provide a visual, that just puts me on guard (even more than usual). It really doesn't matter what the distance away is, I'm going to be very hesitant to believe them. If I can't get a phone number from them, or they won't call me..... FA-GET-A-BOTT-IT ! |

"....such as being a "little old lady" selling her mint-condition barely-used, 40-year old washer and dryer... " That was after spending 30 years in the nunnery. Ain't she sweet? I like your fantasy, and I share it happily. Though, I question the decline in abundant "little old ladies" and wonder if it is due to the effects of Global warming...... and family planning services. Most of the "little old ladies" I knew of, growing up in the 70s, had grown up at the tail end of the Victorian era. Today's little old ladies were burning their bras in the 60s, may have had plastic surgery, and are probably strung out on some type of prescription drug. But, if she's legit and can't operate a camera AND load pics into her computer, she should be more than happy to talk on the phone (though it's probably corded), and you should be able to get an address. Little old ladies are not really the threat to CL as we might believe. It's more likely the 30 something, who's overeducated, can't pay his many school loans and has taken a job creating fake ads and literally gets paid by the number of fake responses he sends out. |
