I saw that on ebay. I'm pleased she gone to a good home. Must admit I was tempted but really looking for an Energy Control Series Electron.

I collected this A8578 from Worthing last night.

I've ran it through a whites programme.

Initial signs are the machine has been well looked after and maintained.

My observations :

Brushes / bearings sound OK - it's pretty quiet - for a Hoover ;) - when spinning.

I didn't think the machine heated up to 85 - more on that to follow.

Door does not open when using the push button.

I selected the the dryer for 20 mins. When the machine finished, the control knob was sitting at the J - position (White Nylons) a few clicks after the T for tumble dry.

I remember reading somewhere that timers on these machines can get out of step. Can anyone shed any light on that ? My thinking is this may explain a few things -

Machine didn't heat up to 85 as I had actually selected the next programme which is 60
The previous owner has attempted to open the door thinking it was on the 'off' position, but wasn't, and it broke the mechanism.

As this is a washer dryer, it's new territory for me - I've overhauled my A3670 and still in the middle of the A3954.

As ever, any information from those in the know would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Mike.

I can happily confirm that your model was made in March 1993. :)

Cool! Please keep us posted.

As much as I lust after a Neptune stacked set, my situation will probably limit me to combo washer/condensing dryer units. Therefore I've a particular interest in threads like this :-)
