Came across this advert on ebay whilst looking for an older washer and thought I had read the advert wrong. Contacted the seller and they say it's Deffo a hot cold fill machine. Anyone got any ideas?

I've seen it on John Lewis site before. It's definitely hot & cold and designed for use where the water is heated by solar panels.

I bought a new machine almost three years ago and considered a Hotpoint that had H&C fill - that was from John Lewis so they have been available for sometime. I think it was a Hotpoint 'Signature' and had a grey door like the one in the pic. I remember my Mum's Bendix in the 1980's was H&C fill on a couple of the hotter temp programmes but I never saw the point. No soon had the pipes been purged of cold water and the hot was beginning to come through, the machine was filled so cut off anyway!

Actually..

A few hot and cold machines have started to creep back into manufacture.

It is starting to be viewed now that hot and cold fill may actually be more economical.

A lot of us now have instant hot water from the combi boilers, so unlike a hot water tank that would need to be heated up. Instant hot water comes through the boiler and as nine times out of ten, the boilers are in very close proximity to the washing machine, it could now actually be more efficient to have h and c fill agaib.

If that makes sense?

True - quite a few brands have a least one hot/cold machine in their line up. Unfortunately, it they only seem to reduce energy consumption, while cycle duration remains largely unchanged.
