Pricing seems too high for the Brand New Crap that's out there today.
I can justify the price let's say of $1.000 and up for a Washer because of all the mechanicals, circuit boards, pumps etc.
But to charge $1.000 and up for a Dryer with an 1/8 to 1/4 of the parts is just Plain Stupid to me.
At this point in my life, I have purchased 4 Dryers. All Kenmores and a step or two above the BOL Models and they all dried clothes just fine. Temperature Setting is really the only thing that matters to me. And the last Kenmore I bought 4-5 years ago had a "Wrinkle Guard", Signal, and Temp Control plus Moisture Sensing and I paid just over $300.00
Still running and drying perfectly, no repairs. If I want steam, I'll put the garment in on Spray Rinse in the washer and toss it in the dryer with a few towels for 10 minutes. Works every time. |

Eddie and anyone else: If you know what you need and don't need, you can use your extra loot towards other needs. I've bought new twice- Frigidaire and GE. The latter(GE) was half ok - wall ovens fine, TOL Cooktop and refrigerator not so reliable or great. You found a good balance that works. There's so much out there - no reason why anyone needs to buy new. But I can vouch - it was fun shopping new, but sorry I didn't approach things differently, in hindsight. Your washer dryer comparison in value is easily jusitified. But you have to pay for all those legal fees, advertising, and markups somewhere along the manufacturer to retailer outlet road, right? :-)
