Is it the later Direct Drive machines that garnered the title Shredmore as opposed to the earlier Belt Drive machines?

Eiher way, they're cute as button.

If not mistaken, the dryer uses the same drum as the portable compacts, the likes of which are still made.

I just scrapped a similar gas dryer.

I know that back in the '50's, my grandmother had a Kenmore set that both the washer and dryer were 24" wide. The washer transmission finally went out about 10 years later because it had the small transmission in it and got used constantly it seems. My aunt and uncle used the gas dryer for years after that. Well into the 70's. It sure dried clothing fast. It really would get hot too.

I think that is the direct drive that would spin drain because of the basket guard. I think the dryer is based on the portable dryer, as someone posted. There is a seam at the bottom of the dryer where it was mfr. to stand taller. In drum filter like the portables. -A

We found the 24 inch dryer on a midnight appliance run years ago. It had just a slightly raised hump at the back of the top with the timer on one side and a cast round plate sort of brass in color the same size as the timer dial on the other side with KENMORE around the upper part of the circle. The exhaust was clogged with lint.
