Ok... as some of you all know I just bought this washer about a month ago. As stated in previous posts the washer makes some knocking noises while agitating. I posted a video in a previous thread, and someone said the agitate roller wasn't rolling smoothly. I have determined the agitator shaft bushings have a little ware, the shaft will move but just barely... it's hard to see. I will upload a video later. I just discovered when you make the washer agitate without water, the agitate roller is smooth and operates like it should. Can anyone give me any advice as to what is, or might be going on?

You already know what it is. The agitate bushing. You replace that, God only knows where you'll find one these days, and your knocking will stop. Those bronze bushings got wear and play in them and would start making a knocking sound. From looking at your previous posts, that seems to be what the problem is. The other thing it could possibly be is the coupling w/ball joint at the bottom of the agitate arm that screws into the agitate shaft. Those had a tendency to get loose inside too. Back in the day, you could replace the entire agitate shaft assembly and probably the entire shaft complete with spin tube shaft too. Greasing the agitate shaft might help make it quieter too. Just be careful not to get any grease on the rollers. I worked on many many many of these machines and had a wcil washer with matching dryer I used for many years. Those were really good machines, but the parts for them now are rare.

Just lightly greasing the agitate shaft would probably quiet it down considerably and cause less wear to the bushing too.

Thank You Bruce
