I don't have much experience with Electrolux aside from newer Frigidaires, so I'm not their biggest fan but I'm not against them, and in any case, I'd choose Elux in a heartbeat over anything Samsung has to offer. I just can't stand behind a company whose admitted business model is to blatantly copy other companies' designs. Their laundry machines are practically LG clones, but they don't seem to have the same build quality.

If one were to put a gun to my head and make me choose between those two I would have to go with Electrolux. Otherwise I would say for a Front Loader LG or Whirlpool? And if money is no issue, then a Speed Queen FL. |

Online, I seem to notice Samsung FL's have trouble balancing the load for spin. On reviews people claim that the machine jumps around even if the load is balanced and the machine is level. My bet would be get the Elux! |

Want your Samsung repaired???
Good luck on that I'm not real fonde of either brand mentioned here. Have had both and was not at all pleased with their outcome. And, the Whirlpools and their subsidiaries made by them have no customer access to the button catcher. LG has more then enough capacity, programs, options and are CRs fewest repairs of any brand and top rated for their features, performance and price. You do not need to pay a lot for nice feayures and dependability like the said Speed Queens. Bigger capacity (4.5 cu ft), great reputation, great customer service, readily available service/ parts, short timed cycles available and direct drive. No pullies,no gears,no belts, and great competitive pricing. I've seen them at Home Depot as low as $699 ea. I have had many and repaired, cleaned and sold them having yet no calls regarding service or performance issues. I've done shoes, pillows, stuffed toy animals, leather ,wool, and suede. No shrinking.I've dyed different pieces and got excellent results using the Sanitary cycle for hot,hot wash water to make the dye fasten to the fabric without fading. Area rugs, runners, car mats, everything coming out clean and fresh. Aloha. |

My second choice after the FL SQ set was a MOL FL Elux set. Reviewed.com loves them and I found a great deal on them as well, but went with SQ in the end. As I recall the SQ's were almost 50% more than the Elux's, so solely as a value proposition I might have opted for them, but the solidity/familiarity of the controls, much better warranty, and assumed greater longevity sold us on SQ. We did go with a Samsung refrigerator and love it a year later and counting. A service call was made regarding starting the ice machine for the first time, and that was arranged without a hitch. The deal is you must purge the air by pressing a hidden button and KEEP HOLDING the button until the water begins to flow. The manual left out that last detail. I also liked the Samsung dishwashers I looked at about 2 1/2 years ago, but went with Bosch instead. Kenmore FL's are made by LG, as you probably know, and may edge them out on control design, depending on what one prefers. I have noticed Samsung laundry, when on sale, often gets cut further than most other brands. That may work in their favor on Black Friday, Presidents' Day, etc. I created a thread here when I was looking for a washer/dryer set and found the feed back very helpful. I mentioned the Elux's but got no posted opinions on them. They are pretty new on the market (here in the U.S. at least) and I don't think any member owns one. Samsung is not popular with some members but others here like at least some of their stuff, as I do. |
