Hi everyone. I have had a Samsung top load high efficiency washer and dryer set for a little over a year now. I really like the dryer but the washer is another story. I can't get used to how little water the washer uses, and the clothes usually come out in a twisted, tangled knot at the end of the wash cycle. I have contacted Samsung about this and they say this is all normal. I understand totally that these types of washers use very little water, but the tangled clothing is another matter altogether. Long story short, I am sorry I bought this washer. I would not recommend it to anyone. I don't know if all high efficiency top loaders have these issues I mention. Has anyone here had these same experiences? What are your thoughts?

yeah, proper loading is a big issue.....
its better for long items that tend to tangle, like pants, to fold them in a Z formation, and placed in quadrants around the tub, rather than wrap them around the tub as in a traditional TLer..... as hard as it is to admit, these machines do function well, once you get past the mental idea of seeing lots of water......most washing begins the second water and suds saturate the load, pre-soaking if you will..... even the rinsing is sort of a saturate and extract function...... I have operated a few of these HE TL versions, takes a while to get used to them, and found it best to use a good detergent, select hottest water available, even taking out the restrictor on the HOT side, select fabric softener for the rinse..... all I can say, is the first draining, the water is filthy, and by the last rinse, it runs clear, it has to be doing something in there..... try some experiments, good luck, and keep us posted.... | ||

Any washer can tangle. These microfiber sheets defy all attempts at proper loading in most any machine.
I know people that are happy with their HE topload washers. While expectations vary, of course, many people are happy enough to have the clothes damp and stuck to the side of the basket. Laundry done. Smelly detergents and other additives mask a lot of laundry sins as well. Like Martin said, I've seen very clean washes come out of HE topload washers, the Whirlpool Cabrio I had a few years ago was a fine machine once I replaced the impeller that had nicks and sharp edges on it.

Thanks for all the helpful tips and hints. One thing I have noticed is that the washer does work better if the laundry is loaded around the periphery of the agitator plate instead of directly on top of it. Old habits do die hard, though, and I do miss the agitator action of a traditional top loader. Having said that, I will admit the laundry comes out of the machine clean, so no complaints there.

Hi everyone...
I did a few loads in the washer since my post and I have tried the Z-formation that Yogitunes mentioned, and I have loaded the laundry around the periphery of the tub and off the impeller. Sigh....I have to admit so far that the results were good. Tangling was minimal, and I didn't feel like I was trying to wrestle a large octopus hanging on for dear life with all eight tentacles attached to the inner workings of the washer. Many thanks to all who replied and gave me some great tips!!! | ||
