Seems there was some new appliance/laundry presentations at CES 2016, but nobody is talking about HP dryers. Did they die on the vine?

NOTE: The LG knock twice refrigerator is kind of cool (no pun intended)

In the video I posted in the Super Forum, the LG rep showed the Signature washer/dryer with heat pump - it's an 24" model, however.

That tub suspension

does look beefy. If the bearings hold up. I wonder what the price is?

Sure makes a Speed Queen FL washer look good compared to Chinese-Korean bells and whistles.

Sure makes SQ look good

Wouldn't say so.

Compact Washer\Dryer Combo with heatpump technology and a (arguebly) more advanced design vs. your standard FL and matching dryer design; that comparison isn't really possible.

I really hope these come to Europe, we only have one heatpump washer\dryer combo that gets rather mixed reviews.

Bells and whistles galore!!!!! BUT

Does anyone ever notice how they (LG) never ever talk about washing performance! These machines are loaded with all the bells and whistles any Millenium will love!!!
I'll take a SPEED QUEEN front loader any day over Korean made LG products.
Mike

PS, so no one gets their panties in a knot, I would also take a Whirlpool, or Maytag front loader as well.

24" Combos Are Darn Near Useless

combo52's profile picture

The drum is TOO small to dry a decent sized load and it certainly can not dry it with excess wrinkles and creases in larger items, so you are left with lots of ironing to do, which wastes electricity and the users time and energy.

As the biggest combo enthusiast in the world, I have never seen a 24" model that is worthy of having or collecting.

Yeah, small combos are a compromise. That is true.

But that is exactly why they are not comparable to full size seperate machines, neither in performance nor price.

But the best compromise is still better then nothing, you know.

LG Combo

I thought I had heard that this particular combo would never come to the US market.

LG

has or had one other combo they sold here in the US. Most folks returned them when they used it and discovered it takes 4 hours to wash and dry one load.
