Even though we paid extra for the "Clear Shield" treatment on our glass shower surround, it still requires a squeegee procedure after each use to avoid limescale accumulation. At most, the "Clear Shield" will allow skipping the squeegee ever other time. If anyone is contemplating a remodel, my advice is to skip the "Clear Shield" because it's not worth it, and you can't use the standard limescale removers like CLR and Lime-Away.
Since Dave's stroke, he's not able to squeegee after he has showered, and if I shower before him, then the glass sits for a day without any attention, as I'm not about to get in there and do the job once I'm fully clothed. And if I shower first, then I figure, why should I bother to squeegee since he'll be in there after me. As a result, scale builds up.
Clear Shield's site recommends Ritec "non-stick" Limescale Remover. It's very expensive, partly because it's made in the UK. I do like it because it smells better than other formulas, but I'd like to find a safe alternative that I can buy off the shelf instead of on line.
Does anyone know of a "Clear Shield" compatible limescale remover that's available in U.S. stores? I don't have enough Ritec left for a full job, so need to figure out a path forward.
Thanks,
