This set has to be the nicest looking and most elaborate set that Norge ever made in the timeline series. If I were to have to pick one set out of time that I could have, this one would definitely be among the few I would want. It was the last of the timeline series, since the next year had typical round dial timers. I have had the dryer in the past, but have not even seen the washer in real life other than advertisements and video. They were good washing machines, just trouble prone. Didn't have a very large capacity, but what they held was washed very well. There were certainly a lot of Norge machines sold in the 50's. Very few exist now and the dryers outlasted the washers by a number of years. The gas dryer in this set had a massive burner that would dry a load of the heaviest clothes or towels in about 20 minutes. Strangely enough, Norge dryers had a mechanical timer that was not electrical at all until the early 60's. Even after the time line series. They had no auto dry setting, only minutes. They were truly a beautiful looking set though!!!
Based on the model number, this set is from 1958. I think the clock lasted into the first Dispensomat model.
I remember that our first Norge gas dryer would turn on as soon as the spring-wound timer dial was turned out of the OFF position, but the burner would not light until the timer was turned past the 15 minute mark, even though the cooldown period was less than 5 minutes.
