It's certainly a grand looking range and well cared for, judging by the burner bowls. Unfortunately, when the controls for the surface burners are on, the word "OFF" is not readily readable. Given the copper-color anodized aluminum on the control panel, I wonder if this range dates from 1955-56 when that trim feature was sort of the rage among appliance stylists.

Anodized aluminum was all the rage with cars from 1955 onward. The 1956-58 Plymouth Fury used gold anodized aluminum, hence the name 'Golden Fin Society' for their club. The 1955-56 Packard 400 and Patrician used aluminum trim known as 'Reynolds Wrap' on the lower body sides, but Im not sure if it was anodized or not.

I saw this range yesterday at construction Junction. It's in very good shape if I were more of a gas range fan ( or a Maytag appliance fan for that matter ) LOL I would be all over it it's only $75.

Hans, Globe American Stove was located on E. Broadway in Kokomo, IN until 1957 when they closed the plant, and it was taken over by Continental Steel. Another location on North St. stayed open a little longer. That building burned around 2004.
