Hi
just watched some scenes of my favourite soap from the late 70ies

Does anyone know what brand washer and dryer in this soap are?
The washer seems like Frigidaire to me,but the dryer? Was thinking of an Easy?????

Maybe some fans of this soap just know it and may help!

Greetings from Germany,
Thomas.

Mystery Dryer

I think that it's actually a Lady Kenmore washer/dryer that is posing as a dryer.

dryer is hard to see. Can't make out the console but it does have the glass door on it. The washer is definitely a Frigidaire model.

You can see part of the control panel. Looks like a Lady Kenmore washer/dryer combo indeed.

Wow

What a blast from the past, one of my favorite shows. I always thought it strange that they paired that combo as the dryer with the Frigidaire washer.

I can't remember, did they have a dishwasher?

The father was supposedly the editor of a large paper. It would seem that his wife would have a dishwasher. Whether it was mechanical or human, I do not know. The pairing of the Frigidaire washer and the Lady Kenmore combo is pretty neat. Heavy fabrics like towels are handled more efficiently by the Frigidaire with the 1010 top spin speed while the combo is great for Permanent Press loads. I had several Frigidaire washers paired with a slightly newer Lady Kenmore combo.

You do have to admit that the show was ahead of its time with two Lesbian actresses who played the daughters. Something about the mother's high cheekbones made her look like she was always on the verge of breaking into tears. Meredith Baxter was at her most beautiful. I liked the piano music theme.

They did have a dishwasher, a Kelvinator (or similar) branded D&M if my eyes didn't deceive me.   There was an episode in the first or second season where it is shown open being loaded by Kate.

I like this set for the laundry area - my mom used the same basket as the one on top of the dryer(is that a different model than the washer?)

(I was working too much to watch any tv at this time)

Kenmore of course playing the dryer part.  Nice soap scene with vintage Tide, and the corning ware coffee pot.

Here ya go

in the very compelling pilot episode, Kate is doing the dishes in the D&M in the midst of family strife. The drama starts at the 21 minute mark.
