a bit reaching on price, wouldn't you agree? I turned the far right photo on side to get a closer view.

I agree Tom, if Tim isn't having a cow, he is certainly having a full litter of kittens!

Nice Speed Queen Twin Tub.

I want the seller to DEMO just how this machine will "DRY" your cloths too.

If it does and they're ready to fold and put away, I'd happily pay their $450 asking price.   cool

Often think

launderess's profile picture
Providing one has the room a Maytag or other conventional washer and separate spin dryer would be a better option. Speaking from a point of capacity, finding spares, and so forth. However in terms of portability and or space savings the Super-Twin would win I suppose.

These sellers asking $$$ for twin tub or conventional washers must assume there is some sort of strong local market. You'd think such sellers would at least put the things on fleaPay and or state they are open to working with out of area buyers in hopes of remotely getting their price.

I don't think members here paid nearly $500 for their SQ ST washer/spinner units even when NIB. Am I right?

I saw them priced at $199 brand new years ago and liked that they had an agitator, not impeller. I should have bought one and kept it. Too bad, so sad for me.

The ad is gone.

The washer appears to be in nice shape, likely the cleanest thing in the house judging by the floors around it.

Hopefully we'll hear who snagged it.

Incredible that things like this, I have given away to someone that had no place to hook up a normal washer and dryer, are considered so desirable now. LOL They were never much then, not now either. Too bad the only thing that doesn't increase in price because of age, is a human being.

Think the problem with SQ "Super-Twin"

launderess's profile picture
Is that they had to compete against Whirlpool, General Electric and other models of portable/convertible washing machines that were fully automatic.

Then there would be the capacity issue. Not sure which holds more; a WP portable of the era vs. SQ ST.

Gotta say I have to agree with you about a fully automatic portable. But were they as easily moved as the ad makes out? I think you used to have one didn't you?

The ironic thing is that, at least in the UK Supertwin version, its by far the easiest and smoothest twin tub to move although bigger and heavier than both the Hoovermatic and HP Supermatic.

Cannot speak for all

But yes, my older WP portable/convertible was very easy to shift about. More so than my Hoover TT. Then again the latter needed new casters (the originals were not only worn but marking up my floors), and the replacements are not Hoover.

With all portable laundry appliances must say in terms of shifting it really does come down to the casters, IMHO. If they are worn or dodgy then moving things about probably won't be easy.
