The very fragile, round type. You know, the ones that you have to very carefully press into the spring bracket, without breaking the igniter.
The igniter on my Speed Queen dryer (model NG5009W) did not glow today. I fixed it by lightly filing the ends that come into contact with the bracket, to make a better connection. When I measured the resistance of the igniter, I was getting 0.4 ohms. Of course, I used little pressure on the meter leads. I checked 2 other igniters that I had in boxes. One was 0.4; the other 0.17. Are these readings reasonable, or is my ohmmeter way off base? Does it even matter what the resistance is, so long as it is not infinity? |
