It must be Saturday morning if someone in Wyoming is the first to welcome you here! You'll like this place, lots of very interesting people and great vintage appliances to enjoy.

Welcome! It occurs to me I have never once ventured over to Vacuumland. I'll have to do that. Not a big vacuum guy, but I do enjoy seeing people's finds/collections.

Welcome, you'll like the folks here. they are extremely knowledgeable, and friendly. there's almost nothing that you can't find out, as someone inevitably has the machine, or has owned one before. you are in good hands with this bunch.
hugs,
David

Welcome to the group. Be cool if you could post pictures of your collections. There are several others here that collect TV's. I have about 50 that range from the late 40's to the 70's. Consoles and tabletops.

Welcome Andy. Just the guy I needed to see. Does the brush assy on a Hoover Spirit powernozzle come apart when the bearings semi-sieze after 30 years? Looks like it was assembled with a press but I don't have one.

Failing that, where do you get legacy Hoover parts?

Yes Welcome!

In just a very short time, I have learned and shared some great knowledge.
You may run into the occasional troll. Keep a low profile, ignore them and don't feed them.

I 'd say

panthera's profile picture

We have few to no trolls left. Through the years, Robert's done a great job of keeping them out.

What we do have are members with very strong and sometimes contradictory opinions (those against the Whirlpool buyout because we felt they'd shut Newton down, others were appalled at the thought of Chinese Maytags, made in America. Anything involving Shrub and Darth Cheney, or Harvest Gold/Avocado versus PANK!).

But trolls? Nah, we're pretty cool.

Besides, anyone from Vacuumland already knows all about collectors' passions.

I agree panthera,

sort of like Darwood and Endora's differing opinions.
We all remember Paul Lynde as uncle Arthur, and Dick Sargent, rest their souls as well.

Welcome....plenty of info to share back and forth....take a look around, and have some fun along the way....

sorry you had to witness your first troll on his 2nd day here....best knowledge has always been from ones who fill out their profile and pics...not judging, just saying...ignore them, and you'll do fine....

if you can, join our donated section, more than your money's worth in featured options...

Keven,

An empty profile combined with the suggestion that there are trolls within the ranks here after only two days of membership doesn't exactly pass the smell test.

Smell test?

"Aint nobody quite like me, I'm just so fresh and clean!"

ah, well then

panthera's profile picture
I suppose that's possible.
Of course, I've kept a relatively empty profile here over the centuries and tend to lurk for years at a time.
So - assuming the best of everyone and hoping our new member will find us an accommodating and pleasant forum.

Of course,

and although it may seem empty as of now, we've all met before, perhaps in another zone, or dimension.

This is my brushroll out of a Hoover Elite, it should be the same as the one in your Spirit. There is a video I just made about it below

//elcome aboard!

Gidday from Australia.....

Welcome aboard.... I have a couple of Hoover Elite washing machines... The 930 and 940.... Interesting to see the vacuum range had an Elite series..... Wonder what years they were produced.... The elite range (well the better of them) surfaced in 83/84 and through till 88 - from then on Elite range still were made but not what they were

Got it Andy, thanks. After 30yrs the brush was only stubble anyway.

Biggest bummer with the Spirit, walmart/target/kroger quit selling the bags 5yrs ago. It hasn't needed ANYthing since the canister/hose overhaul in the OOs. Nobody makes anything like that anymore.
