I opened the new Maytag compact front loading washer and dryer last night at work to put out for display. They are quite attractive and after removing the shipping bolts,I plugged in the washer and went for a spin.LOL.It goes up to 1200 RPM and is very quiet. It reminded me a lot of my LG combination ventless washer dryer except it doesn't have the recirculating spray nor does it have the direct drive motor. However the tub capacity is a full 2.7 cu ft (approx 14 pounds)and both the washer and dryer have a stainless steel tub.The washer retails for $699 and the dryer retails for $499.The bracket to stack them together retails for $19.95.Lots of tire kickers but no bites yet.

Maytag "Compact" Neptune washers and dryers are rebadged Samsung units. There are one or two posts here in the group giving details. Yes, there are pedestals or "risers" as Maytag calls them, you can see everything on the Maytag site. IIRC I posted a link in a previous thread. While the units do look good on paper, would be curious to see them in person. While the washer does have ATC, it lacks an internal heater. The owners manual is confusing and gives little details about the cycles. Contacted Maytag and the technical support rep was equally clueless, kept comparing things to the Maytag Neptune front loader. Guess since Maytag does not build these units they must rely on whatever information Samsung provides. Have been considering a front loader with a larger capacity, and was torn between the SQ and Maytag units. Now both are out will have to kick the tires and see what I can see. One good thing about the Maytag units is they are backed up by Maytag's nationwide network of service techs. Another good thing is Sears probably will get them so can put them on my Sears card and if they don't suit return in 30 days no questions asked. Launderess |
