I am not someone who sews although I do have 3 machines tucked away. I've heard that these Singer Athena 1200's are not necessarily the machine of choice but this looks nice anyway. The Singer cabinet is attractive too. You have to appreciate the design of these machines. They almost look like modern sculpture. Just posted, $150 in Indio. Perhaps of interest to some.

Early Singer Electronic Sewing Machines

Joe, you're right about the design. This one still looks, to me, contemporary enough to sit out all the time.

I found that Athena 2000 that you've posted, at a thrift(board failure, stitches only straight- woes of electronics). But other Singers followed me home from the thrifts: a 6268, a Future 900(also others made after 900), a Sensorsew 70, and a non-Singer, a Pfaff 1171.

I think the design is timeless and it does look like modern sculpture. Very cool.

Some other Singer Touchtronics included these: the 2001, 2005 and 2010 (last three pics, in same order as mentioned. There may be more models...just thought I'd post these - never know, some people might be interested. Thanks for posting a classic Singer electronic machine.

If it's got lots of buttons and lights up I'll buy i

I bought this Singer cabinet a few years ago for pretty much nothing. There was a Touchtronic 2000 machine inside. I slightly modified the cabinet so this Bernina would fit, another bargain find. I kept the Singer because I think it looks cool. I was planning on trying to learn how to sew in my old age but now I'm past that age period.

Great bargain finds, Joe - I have the same weakness - lights and buttons. LOL!
