Came across this ebay item - a 1940s Universal wringer washer on Long Island. I've communicated with the seller who shared an interesting story about the washer. A German family bought it just before the outbreak of the second world war. Apparently they had originally planned on returning to Germany, but then could not when war broke out. So they stayed in America and eventually sold the house in 1975 to this seller's father.

Forgot to mention ... the price is negotiable.

I told the seller, Herman, about the washing machine club, and he says the price is negotiable. I think he would really like to see it go to somebody that appreciates it.
