Give or take a year or two.  At this point Hotpoint has already assumed the same cabinet and internal mechanics of the GE products.  The transformation has begun.

Hotpoint stopped illuminating the control panels in 1967. I think the last one was the 795 that I covet:

Ken - thanks, I can see where the panel lights were covering alot of real estate, but I thought the posted unit had lights up above, on the overhang. Oh well, it would be easy to retrofit something L.E.D.'ish.

you've shown have an odd shadowing pattern - is that Coppertone? Typically the dark highlighting is just on the periphery, but on these the whole top & sides are dark, never seen that. Or are these Charcoal?

A significant short might give you a powerful flash in the panel before the breaker tripped if you had it on a 50 amp range circuit, but then there would be that smell to deal with.
