Afternoon Guys,

Just a quick question, I was helping a m8 recently with a Servis Mk70 Supertwin, which he has had fully re-sprayed after it had been sitting for over 2/3 years.

We did notice that the spinner seemed to take ages to get up to full speed, i did notice that this model along with others models probably had the jockey pulley which takes the tension out of the spin belt. What is the purpose of this device ??

Any comments welcome
Cheers
Keith

A jockey pulley is there to put tension in the belt, not take it out! Tumble dryers normally have them because the belt tension could otherwise vary with temperature as things expand and contract. On the spinner you will also get variation of the belt temperature due to frictional heat between it and the pulleys.

If the belt is very old I suppose it might have become hard and is resisting changing shape from straight to curved, as it warms up it will get more supple and impede spin drum movement less.
