To over ride switch just put a strong magnet on the magnet in the lower right corner of the top opening where the lid magnet hits and the washer will operate with the lid up. To get a full hot fill without cold water mixing in the only thing that I can think of is the close the cold fill valve during the wash fill. This may not work, but I think that its worth a try.

all washers today have temp. limit thermistors in them. If you want a full on hot wash, you need to shut off the cold water valve to the washer, then open it back up before the rinse cycle, so after the washer has filled with hot water. |

theres your first clue with a temp control machine, just turning off the cold water will not deliver a hot wash.....
many machines will pause with an error code if both faucets are not turned on....yeah, theres a sensor for that alone.....this makes it hard to test certain machines with a garden hose out in the garage... and machines with the auto temp will fill with hot until it gets too hot and then calls for the cold to be added, so may not be a good idea to turn the cold side off...for some, you can get away with turning the cold water down to a trickle....again, each machine is a little different in the way it reacts.....turning the water heater up can reduce the dubbed down temps there are ones that when hot is selected, will add for only 60 seconds, and then the rest if either warm or cold added......and you can't by-pass a lot of this stuff.... for some, and may not be practical for your setup, but install a 'y' valve and hose on the hot side faucet, and fill the machine manually with hot water, then turn that off, and let the machine resume with the cycle.... the more we try to by-pass on these newer machines, the more they make it difficult to do so... some machines you can unplug that temp sensor.....others are smart and wont operate if it is unplugged....others you can leave it plugged in, but depending on the setup, pull it out of the route to sense the temps.... theres a bunch of things you can try, until you find one that works for you best.... I even pulled the restrictor out of the hot side of the inlet valve, for a warmer mix.... |

aint that a techs nightmare, oh, but they have computer diagnostics? So it's mostly the consumers. Maybe they should install windows 3000 on them so they can toggle into your appliance when they want to allow you to use it. |

for the lid switch, isn't there two little screws on the part attached to the lid, you could remove those, and just lay the 'magnet' across the section if belongs for operation.....we did this with several machines.....
just keep those screws handy should you want to put it back together..... one nice thing about that extra hose is you could add as much water as you want....but don't be shocked as a few machines, mainly FLers, triggered the pump if the level was too high.... they get you coming and going..... let us know how you make out..... |

yeah, most times you have to keep that magnet there for the entire cycle, you may want to duct tape it in place....
well, at least you got to see the wash action...... another thing with that 'Y' connection.....you can do your own version of spin spray.....as long as too much water doesn't bog the machine down.... just select an all brass 'Y' for a hot water connection, and choose one with the little on/off valves on it.... something like this should work for you...... If your Hotpoint has a Power Rinse or Fabric Softener option for the rinse select it for all loads and you will get a deep fill rinse that agitates. I used to have a new GE that was old school electromechanical controlled and at that time (2012) and the Hotpoints were essentially the same. I found that the GE that I owned rinsed very well and there were never any traces of detergent left in the clothes when a load was finished. Also, if your water level switch has a reset setting and you want a higher level fill than the largest load setting hold the switch on reset manually and the washer will fill to a higher level that you control. When you release the switch from reset the washer will stop filling at your desired level.
