A good friend called me this past weekend as said His mom had an old set of Kenmores that she was going to get rid of,cause the washer leaked ,when i asked what color were they and he said Harvestgold i said i`ll be right over.When i got there here were these two model machines that i had never seen before before i think that they are just below the lady kenmore line as they just say heavy duty .I took them home and took them all apart an found the plastic funnel filter in the Pump waste line of the washer was broken typical of kenmore washers of this age !!! So i just bypassed it an the washer works great i just love the top Detergent Dispenser its so cool to watch the water flow through the dispenser an into the washer. Both the washer an dryer have a dial panel light anybody ever see theses Before ,He gave me all the owners manuals and reciepts but haven`t looked at them yet

Nice catch John, those are awesome machines! Love that light over the dial!

When you mentioned "plastic funnel filter", were you referring to the manifold trap or the little elbow device that the drain hose connects to?

I'm wondering what model series this is as well; 80 perhaps? Looks too high-end for a 70...

The New Washer

My friend's mom bought this model in 1973. She referred to it as the "new" washer until the day she died.

Re: Whats:

Under the Cover, to the right of the Dryer? I see what looks like a Kenmore Calypso Washer, to the Left of the Washer.

How about some Pix's of both?

1973 sounds about right. I remember them well. Very nice machines indeed, so glad you saved them, esp. since it was just a minor thing for the washer. When my roommate was looking to buy a house 4 years ago, one we looked at had this set in white. It was owned by a gay man since new so of course they were in perfect condition. Needless to say I was disappointed he didn't get that particular house, LOL.

This was the wwasher my high school best friend's mom got replacing her 1960 alphabet kenmore Dick in Palm Springs has. I believe this was purchased fall of 1973, shortly before I came home for homecoming. I remember how much qieter this was than our Kenmore 800. Pretty much all the same features too. This exact set was what went into the new neighbor house at our lake house.

The Birdcage

I saw The Birdcage last night and there was a scene in a kitchen/laundry with Robin Williams that had turqouise Kenmores in the background that looked like these? Could that have been an older model? Also, I can't tell if these are Avocado or Harvest it looks in between.

Birdcage

I could be dreaming, but I was sure the washer in turquoise, in the Birdcage was a whirlpool.

That's great! I remember these machines - it *was* fun to watch the water go through the dispenser. I hope you have a great time with them.

Re: Birdcage:

The Washer and Dryer in Birdcage were Kenmore's and they were Torquoise Color. They were somewhere between late 1960's to early 1970's "MOL" Models.

I remember how much quieter this one was than our Kenmore 80

Hi Bob!
AND do you know why they are much quieter? Because they have a "thin" belt which Kenmore produced for a few years back in the early 70s. I've got three of them now-one identical to the one pictured in this thread and two identical (white) with full flourescent lighted panels that I'm going to combine into one good one. Picture of one is in my Photo Collection. I think it is a very handsome Kenmore. They're super quiet and very easy on the ear.

Nice Nice Nice John. And appear to be in excellent cosmetic shape!

Glad you got them. See, keep that open communication going, and like I've said before, BINGO!

RE: Turquoise Kenmores:

Fact: 1967 was the last [production/model] year for Turquoise in the Kenmore line.

"mixfinder":

You are indeed correct....... the set pictured above is are 1973-74 models. This set was positioned JUST below the Lady Kenmore set of that year.

"harvestgold":

By the way, I remember those. I saw a brand new one with the cycle-timer lit up in a Sears store way back in 1974.

What agi did this model use? The SRSwirl or the Penta Swirl?

GASP!

Those are the 73 models equivalent to the 800. Do these still do fill/agitation in permanent press?

Well then...

When did they stop doing that? Mid 70s?
