I've been reading the threads on the various Norge Timelines that have been found, but what about the "other" Timelines?

I recall my Aunt had a Hamilton version of the timeline, matching set from the '50s that lasted until sometime mid '70s.  If I recall it had reddish maroon knobs with gold lettering.  I never see the variations that Norge did discussed.  Growing up we had the Hamilton version of the later Norge from the early'60s, ours had a red lint filter and I can still recall the sound the filter made - vaguely sounded like  hawaii .

As far as I recall or have ever seen, the timeline series was from the conception of Norge top loading machines, until 1959. Norge also made Hamilton washers too in that period of time, which were similar in appearance. I believe that 1958 was the last year for the timeline Norge machines with the straight dial timer. That is also the first year they offered a two speed machine. The TOL 1958 washer and dryer was very impressive looking. It had a high timer panel in sort of a V shape with lots of knobs and chrome. It fully lit up across the timer console. That washer and dryer set was beautiful to behold. The washer is in a commercial for detergent and it is also featured in the Westinghouse commercial glorifying how well the Westinghouse machine got out dirt and sand. Both those commercials are in the archives on this site. After that year Norge started making regular circular timers for their washers. Sometime in the early 60's Blackstone started making washers for Hamilton. Norge was an interesting machine that washed clothes quite well, just had a few weak points that damaged their reputation for holding up well over a period of time. Had they been able to overcome the weak pump in particular, they might have well been leaders in the automatic washer industry. In the early 60's they redesigned with their large capacity machine, which started out with a 13 pound claim of capacity and ended up with a 22 pound claim of capacity by Magic Chef for the exact same tub. They used that design for many many years. In the mid 60's they phased out the old solid tub design. It had a much smaller capacity and had outlived it's usefulness. The Norge dryers had mechanical timers up to the very early 60's machines I think. I know the '59 models did. They had no automatic dryness control, just time dry.
