Geez, just looked at the pictures again and realized it's an early Roto-Rack.  Neat!  

 

If it's like my '57 Whirlpool (which was a D&M machine like this) it will have a gravity drain.   These machines are pretty easy to work on too.

American Kitchens was part of AVCO, somehow, and that is now D&M got started. The drawers formed a "bust line" for the undercounter cabinets like the dishwasher door. The early ones had no detergent dispenser, just pour on the door, crank the handle down and start it; one wash two rinses and dry.

Yep, the 57 Whirlpool has the same cycling.   There was a sort of purge between the wash and first rinse to try and rinse out the shmutz left from the wash cycle.  They tried....
