Ok, so I'm gonna try this again.
Hi everyone.
So, the last KitchenAid experience didn't work out too well.
But this time, I think it's gonna work out all right.
I've been talking to the seller since the weekend and he's holding it for me.
I was supposed to go and get it tonight, but my ride fell through and so we're off to do it "Tomorrow". Yes, I'm an ANNIE fan!!!
It's a WhirlAid version, so I can now have a "set" of KA's in both it's best inceptions-the last of the true Hobart machines and the better of the Whirlpool made versions.
From what I can make out by my brochures it is a 1995-96 model and it should be model #-YKUDS230BW and it's in excellent condition according to the ad AND the pics show that to be quite true.
I plan to make this incoming one my main unit and use the 19 as my plastics machine. And even though it's white, I can still change the front panels to black and only the control panel will have to be white.
The Bosch hasn't been used since I got the 19, since I like it better and it's much more fun to use, so it will be nice to fully use two dishwashers again. I'll use the WhirlAid as the main unit because it has superior filtration and the racks are better for those kinds of loads that the main unit handles.
And even though the 22 that I got a few months ago doesn't work, the upper spray arm from it is definitely giving better results in the 19 and the insulation blanket from it has really quieted the 19 tremendously! Not to mention the energy efficiency it adds to it. So I got some good out of it for my 80 bucks. That unusable machine I bought a few months ago though is not quite the same pump design, so not all the parts will be compatible, but I plan to break it down and keep some of it for parts.
I figure the motor, timer, detergent dispenser and the rinse aid dispenser should be enough since the racks are completely toast and the fill valve is shot. And I already switched out the upper spray arm to use in the 19. The 4-Way Hydro-Sweep wash arm will not be salvageable though as all three machines have different designs of the arm and are therefore not interchangeable.
So, the two pics that were posted are attached and I'll try to post the actual link to the ad, even though I'm not sure I know how still.

Well Scott,

those were very good machines, but with age, sometimes the rack mounting holes in the porcelain tub can leak. You can try an epoxy around the screw holes.
That was just about the time Whirlpool bought out Hobart and Kitchen Aid.
If it acts naughty, and doesn't rewind, you can always beat it to death with a Sunday leg of lamb, like Kathleen Turner did while her unsuspecting neighbor was watching Annie.

Nice Machine/find.  What happened to your "ride"?

Thanks vacerator for the tip about the rack mounting holes. I'll look for any and all leaks when I fire it up for it's test run.
Actually, this machine would have been nearly a decade after Whirlpool acquired KitchenAid from Hobart.
WP bought KA in 1984 and the deal wasn't finalized until 1986. Since this machine, according to the sales brochure, was manufactured between 1995-96, Whirlpool SHOULD have had all the kinks worked out by this model. Including that dreaded "single rinse" that the 22 featured. I'm very happy that it's not another 22 for that reason.

"If it acts naughty, and doesn't rewind, you can always beat it to death with a Sunday leg of lamb, like Kathleen Turner did while her unsuspecting neighbor was watching Annie."

I don't eat lamb, but could I beat it with a rotisserie chicken? I make those all the time.
Mind you, if someone was watching that God Awful film version of ANNIE from 1982 with Carol Burnett, then I would be morally obligated to beat them since that movie really SUCKED big time. You can only appreciate ANNIE if you saw the stage play and especially on Broadway :) Even the Disney version from 1999 is better than the 82 movie. But I digress...that is for another forum.

Hey mayken4now, my Friend has been busy this week and yesterday had to go out of town and got stuck in traffic coming home.
Thus, we didn't get out to get it yesterday for that reason.
So today, it's on!!!!

I'll definitely have some pics for you all later and when I get them BOTH settled into their new spots, I may even make a video of them in action.
Seems there are quite a few vintage KA'ers out there on YouTube showing off their prizes.

One question for now. If anyone could suggest any other parts from the 22 I should keep for future use on the 23, I'd appreciate some tips.
And another actually. I've tried the TSP thing in the dishwasher and it worked great for the first few loads. But then the glasses started to get the cloudy film on them and some plastics do as well. I used a small amount at first, then increased it a bit, and have now gone back down to a 1/4t per load in the main wash cup only.
Any tips on what's causing the clouding and/or better uses/applications of the TSP?
I also noticed that it was mentioned that STTP is the better product, but haven't found any yet. I also saw liquid TSP in Home Depot yesterday, but I don't see a big difference in using powder or liquid in the dishwasher at this point.
Will also be hitting a restaurant supply store this weekend to see about the industrial strength Cascade or whatever other brand(s) they have.
Thanks for any tips &/or advice and I hope everyone is having a great day.
Summer, is FINALLY here!!!!!!!!!!

You're welcome

Scott! It's perfect day here. I guess I was thinking of the year in which W.P. discontinued the choke valve drain on Kitchen Aids. I don't even recall when that was either.
As for the weather, all of my roses are beginning to bloom. Not to brag, but I baby them. It's a job keeping the spider mites off them with neem oil.
A royal purple clematis has also many flowers on it.
Amending the soil with composted manure or a peat moss compost mix is the secret with new plantings.
Rule of plant maturity is first year sleep, second year creep, third year leap.
There are exceptions of certain plants which thrive in most any soil.
Salvia, some daisies, yarrow, coreopsis, and marigolds. The latter re seed them selves. The former does not. Also certain perenials may not do well if planted in pots the next year.
I mainly use manure for fertilizer. The white bag with a blue cow at the H.D. garden dept. $2 per 50 lb. bag.
I know, not the correct forum. I apologise.

Best of luck with getting it.  We had the same one in black in our last house.  You will love it.   When those were brand new they were approx. $800.   A fair chunk of money in the late 90's or early 2000's.  We bought ours at the end of the run, discontinued and marked down.

I GOT It!

Picked it up last night.
It's sitting in the living room next to the defunct 22. They sorta look "happy" together. Too bad there's no hope for the 22 though.
The machine is in very good condition except for the typical gunk build up in the corners of the door and down in to the springs. And the buttons are a little sticky from the gunk built up in between them. But it has seen little use and the owners made it very clear that they didn't like to use it much at all. Usually at Holidays and the odd big dinner with Family. It came from a very nice in home in the suburbs and should give me some very good years of cleaning.
Will post some pics of course, a little later after I get going on it all.
Still on my morning coffee here and getting everything all planned out for the big changeover.
The 19 has to be removed for the 23 to go in it's place, set-up, tested and installed. Later, the original Bosch will come out and the 19 will go in it's place. Thankfully that one just has to be installed and plugged in it's already cleaned up and ready to use.
So my day is planned out for the most part, but the amount of work is minimal, just the amount of time to do all that has to be done.
If all goes well, by the end of today I will finally have TWO Top-of-the-Line KitchenAid Superba dishwashers of each era running and fully functioning.

@ vacerator:
I hope your gardening goes well.
I find it very relaxing to spend a day or even a weekend just puttering in the garden.
Alas though, since I now live in an apt., there's not much "puttering" going on these days. Sigh........................

@ alr2903:
I hope I love this machine as much as I have enjoyed the 19. And I think I'll like it a bit more cause the rack design is much better than when Hobart was making them. I do wish it was black though, as I'm not a fan of white at all. Interesting that even the trim strips on this machine are all white as well making the machine very 'bland' looking. I'm gonna try and take the chrome trim strips off the 22 and use them with the panels reversed to black. The only part that will be white then is the control panel.
I had figured this machine to have been around $850.00 in it's day and you are definitely right, that was NOT cheap for a dishwasher back then.
SO now, I have a 36 year old Hobart and a 21 year old WhirlBart and it will be interesting to see in time what their longevities will be.
Time to get busy.....................!

All is GREAT, so far.....

Well, it's all hooked up and running through a full cycle Soak & Scrub-Pots/Pans cycle with every option chosen.
As it runs, I'm timing it and writing down what it is doing in each segment of the cycle.
I can't believe how QUIET, (STOP SHOUTING!!!), this machine is. And it's standing naked in the open in the kitchen with no bottom panel and just it's blanket wrapped around it. And still much quieter than the 19.
It's so clean underneath. A few cobwebs, but no big deal or any mess. And it was sitting right there in the "Grand Room" to the left in the house I bought it from. So even the cobwebs are clean :)
The motor looks like it came new out of a box and installed on it just before they sold the machine it's so pristine looking.
I've already taken the ChinaGuard off and it's in the machine cleaning with it so I can store it. The clips had gunk caught in them anyway so it's cleaning them up as well. The upper spray arm was typically clogged up at the ends and so had to be wetted and plucked clean. And the lower arm was quite yucky looking underneath with one of the filter cleaning holes clogged like I would never have imagined could happen. It came out ok with tweezers, but sheesh.....some people!
After this full cycle I'll clean out the bottom of it again and then run the machine with some CLR to really clean it out and it'll be fine as my new daily driver.
I've put brand new drain hoses on it, new brass connector to the fill valve, and a new power cord.
The Bosch will come out later and the 19 will go in it's place as planned and all should be well in KitchenAid Land!
I hear Andrea McArdle singing Never, Never Land in the background. (You should hear it sometime, it's beautiful).
Ah, the world is sweet........
Some pics of it and it's predecessor to show some of the differences.
More pics to come a bit later.

Great!

Good luck with them, and getting them in working order, then install, or reselling.
My folks had one slightly newer with a touch pad and led digital readout.
