That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it... As mentioned in another post, I did some re-arranging in the Ogden Laundry this week and the end result was something I had envisioned a looooonnnng time ago: an all-50s laundry room. Well, all the machines hooked up are from the 50s anyway.
And as the annual birthday ticker clicked on another year for me, I noticed that like me, none of the laundry equipment in the basement is under 50!

In order of the photos: 1 - the 65 year olds (The Kenmore and the 'new' GE AW5B6) 2 - the 60 year olds (The Norge AW432 and the Whirlpool Imperial) 3 - the 57 year olds (Frigidaire Custom Imperial washer and Imperial dryer) 4 - more 65 year olds (the Frigidaire WO65 washer and TR60 dryer) 5 - 63 year olds (Canadian Westy CLB6 Laundromat and CD6 dryer) 6 - the newly-turned 50 year olds (The Blackstone BA600 and Inglis Sterling) and finally 7 - a 51 year old (the Maytag A702)
Yes, most of the machines have been worked on but it is still remarkable that they are all over 50. In light of the news of GE's takeover, I'll bet these machines will live on into their 70s while the 'new' GE's will grace local landfills all over the nation.... |
