Reasonable starting price.

ALL RIGHT! ALL YOU MEMBERS WHO COMPLAIN, MOAN, AND LAMENT ABOUT WANTING VINTAGE WASHERS. AND NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND THEM! And you know who you are!

Probably won't find a similar machine for a similar price. There it is, go get it!

*LOL*

Goatfarmer, keeping it all real, and bringing it home! Hahaha!

Would love this set but have no room so aren't even giving the idea a sustained thought. However am watching with keen interest as am sure this is going to get interesting.

Now you boys behave yourselves, and play nice.

*LOL*

I have to say that items have been offered for free from Belchville.  I know that transportation is expensive so I can sympathize with those who cannot swing it, but I have also seen cooperative efforts among members of the club where those who are able have driven an appliance a few hours to meet up with someone else who was willing to do some hauling. There are people here who would help and have helped if asked.

Just doin' my thing, Laundress!

Something like this comes up, everyone ooooh's, and aaaahhh's, but no one pulls the trigger. Then a few weeks later, people start moaning about no vintage appliances coming up.

I've always said, if there's a will, there's a way. I spent a long day driving to St Louis, and back to pick up a set that had been offered here. It can be done.

Cool WP Washer And Dryer

combo52's profile picture

These were TOL, the dryer is one or two model years newer however, the washer is WPs first washer with a lighted control panel, this would be a 53-54 model [ this washer even still used a two level float to give the two different water levels.

The dryer is a 1956 model, very cool that it is GAS and it has electric ignition.

True, so very true.

It is difficult to get anything shifted today for under $300, and that is cheap. If possible best to go and collect one's self.

That Westinghouse washer in New England is *still* up for grabs despite a price chop to only $25 last time one checked. Years ago am almost sure a deal would have been done by now.

If I was able to move that Westinghouse washer I would have grabbed it.  I don't mind some driving, but I am pretty useless and moving and loading.

If anyone wants a turquoise DE750 Maytag dryer, you better contact me soon.  It's in the driveway and soon will be a Kia.

In regards to shipping, I have found it's often much less to let a shipper bring you the item than drive both ways.

Fair pricing for the vintage and condition.

Hope someone here gets them.

Only the washer sold, and only one bidder at that for opening amount.

Hello everyone

I purchased the washer, and the dryer as well. Turns out they were about 35 minutes from my house. These will be my first vintage set and I honestly cannot wait to get them all cleaned up and restored as well. They are in pretty good shape with minimal rust. They are definitely heavy, but very well built. They sure don't make them like they used to. I have a collection of vintage vacuums, but I love anything old. I think I have the major appliance bug now!

Tyler,

In order to get the full benefit out of the washer you'll need one of these to go with it seeing it has the suds return feature.

Nice Laundry Tub

combo52's profile picture

But unfortunately it no longer has the fittings to use with a Suds-Saver washer, so other than looking nice it is no better than any other single laundry tub.

Hyacinth in a rooftop: Priceless!

The "electro-galvanized" laundry tub: Can something be galvanized NON-electrically??

I love the temperature choices and how there seems to be only one for both wash and rinse temps: "Hot", "Medium", & "Warm"

I wonder if there's any chance of this coming back into vogue, lol.

Jim

Wash-Rinse Temps

combo52's profile picture

On this washer the rinse is always warm.

When we still had an electric water heater, I used to stand on a little stool in front of the waterfall front Kenmore washer and hold the cold water hose connected to the faucet in the set tubs as we filled the machine manually with rinse water to save money. It did have a suds saver.

Hi everyone!

Thank you very much. I took it through her first wash last night and I still have alot to learn about vintage washers. I also have alot to learn when I start to dig into these. Thank you everyone for the advice and everything. I'm going to become a regular here :-D

I remember those well.

chachp's profile picture

That's the set my Mom had when I was a kid.  I was born in '54 and from the time I can remember what she had in the basement it was this set.   Seeing that agitator sure brings back memories and that big button in the front to open the doors does as well.  I am pretty sure hers had the Suds Saver or one of her washers did at some point because I remember that big tub of hot water waiting on the next load.
