I just received a new Speedqueen Model AWN432. It's fantastic! The clothes come out clean and fresh. The cycles are around 30 minutes. I took back a Maytag HE washer that took 55 or more minutes with very little water and nothing in the way
of agitation. Unlike the Maytag that danced around the floor and shook like a Saturn Five rocket, the SQ is solid and sturdy. Nothing against the older Maytags and Whirlpools, but things are different today. Go with the Speedqueen.

You are right about that!!! They are the ONLY new top load washer to have! Hope you have good luck with it.

At my house we got rid of a BOL Whirlpool (Roper) in favor of a SQ, thus my username.
The Whirlpool went through TWO fill flume assemblies in only two years. With the second one we bought the SQ rather than another $85 thin plastic part.

Welcome to the club!

Thanks

Glad to be part of the club. It's good to be here. The wife is throwing in laundry as we speak.
She loves the new SQ. We can't wait for our Whirlpool dryer to go on the fritz so we can buy the matching Speedqueen dryer ha ha... The Whirlpool is fine though.

I do sort of wonder how long speed queen will get to keep making these machines...

Good question Bruce

They were smart in putting in that Normal Eco cycle to accommodate the water/energy police.
For the Florida Speed Queen Club, I could cover East central and South Florida and you could cover
West central and Northern FLA, if that'll help?

I was totally incompetent as my role of Speed Queen Abolutus, et cetera.

My mom

has a Goodman. It keeps the house cool, but is that thing loud! Sounds like a thunderstorm.

1. Thanks Frig. I am getting old for sure
2. No, the Goodman is algore approved 410A. Was installed in newly constructed slab-on-grade home I purchased in April 2015 along with matching Goodman furnace, coil and air handler.
3. it is not too loud, I think Goodman rates it at 74db
4. Laundry comes clean er......never mind I used this one before

HI FRIG!

And welcome to all SQ owners, old a new, to one of the most respected, often imitated but never duplicated group of owners anywhere.

I just got a new Speed Queen same model as you and love it. Had it for like a week now. I washed some old towels I use to wipe my car down with after I wash it and had some dirt stains that didn't come out in my old Kenmore. I was really impressed with the cleaning power of the Speed Queen. Totally awesome machine!

The way the agitator is shaped, it reminds me of how the old Whirlpool agitator used to be shaped. Obviously patterned after them. Those machines certainly did wash well too!

new Speed Queen

I just replaced a 7 yr old Speed Queen Model AW412 and a ten year old Maytag (real, not Whirlpool) dryer that were destroyed in a flood (google Clendenin, WV flood) on June 23/24 with a Speed Queen AW432 and a dryer (not sure of the model number for the dryer). I'm glad they are still available. The morning of the flood, knowing my basement had taken three feet of water, I called my local family owned appliance store and talked to my regular salesman (I've been a customer since 1980) and told him what had happened and that I wanted a new set of NON-ELECTRONIC Speed Queens. He said "they're yours, just let us know when you're ready for them." They were delivered last Thursday and I'm very, very pleased. I hope local dealers are around for a long time. Try getting that kind of service from a box store.....

Water damage

chetlaham's profile picture
Is it really necessary to replace the dryer, and perhaps the washer? I had a pipe burst upstairs 5 years ago and it dumped water on everything. The dryer drum had a standing puddle in it. Eventually I let them dry and the washer and dryer ran like normal. Granted whirlpool machine have a weep hole at the top of the transmission, so water seeping in could wreck the gear case, but in all honest Ive had other parts in water no issue.

is it necessary to replace the machines?

The "water" that stood in my machines for over 24 hours was mostly mud, so I replaced the machines. There's a big difference between water from a broken supply pipe and muddy river water that contains who knows what in it.

Makes sense, I was thinking clean water. My mistake. In that case replacing it is a good idea.

After a month

of use the Speed Queen TL we bought has been flawless. Having clean clothes in 30 minutes is awesome! Of course, our Whirlpool dryer takes it's sweet time drying the clothes. It is due for a lint vac cleaning from the exhaust hose. It should be done to avoid any fire hazard.
