Finally got the portable I REALLY wanted all along, driving from Boulder Creek to Redding, and back yesterday to collect it. I cleaned it today, though not much was needed. I do, however, need a few parts. Gotta make it perfect for my wife, can anyone hook a brother up? Happy to pay you your price for good condition parts.

1. Chrome pull-bar w/simulated burl inset, which attaches to butcher block top. The two end pieces that hold the bar are actually fine, I will buy them if I need to get the entire assembly. The bar was already bent, I made things worse trying to straighten it.

2. Stainless kickplate trim surround for left side, as you face the washer. I'll buy the entire kickplate if necessary to get the trim piece.

3. Two plastic recessed pieces from the back which conceal the electrical cord end, and the hose connector. Pieces are cracked and/or broken around perimeter, especially around the screw holes.

4. Any and all literature, i.e. Owners Manual, Parts List, Service Repair Manual, etc. . Could not find any in our Library, but perhaps I missed them?

Finally, what is the best product to apply to the wood top when I refinish it? Thanks for any and all help!

Cheers,
Steve

After sanding the top I tack cloth it a few times then apply at least 6-7 coats of Mineral Oil.

Mineral Oil is non toxic and apply a film every so often.

Look through Ephemra under KitchenAid. There you will find downloadable versions of the owners and service manual for the KS-20 series which will cover most things you need to know for your KDS-60, which is essentially the same machine. Finding parts will probably be another story. Watch Ebay for parts for your model and possible generosity from other members.

Thank You! . . .

. . . To the both of you, for the tip on the mineral oil, and the KDS20/60 being essentially the same machine. Will have to hope another member has a parts machine, I guess. A friend of mine that builds hotrods may be able to massage the metal pieces for me, I'll check with him.

If I were to locate another parts machine, can anyone tell me which model(s) would have the parts I need and be interchangeable? Too bad they don't make a parts interchange manual, like for old cars - or do they?

Regards,
Steve

Steve, I think the 20 through 23 series share common exterior trim features, but mechanically not so much.

So when you say "kick plate" do you mean the black piece across the very bottom, or the lower color matched access panel?  If it's the access panel, I should have the trim piece you need on my beater 21 Superba.

It's The Access Panel, Ralph,

. . .thanks for clarifying that! I never gave thought to its' built-in cousin having the same trim. Wish I had just taken that towel/pull bar directly to my friend instead of making things much worse . . .Let me know if your 20 does have that trim, Ralph, happy to pay you whatever you say.

Steve…I've got a lot of thing for the 20-23 series. If no one else comes through, contact me and I can get you stuff from my stash. I'm sure I have at least three sets of access panels (chrome trim still affixed).

Allen, thanks . . .

. . .I am hoping Ralph has the access panel trim chrome, but if you'd p.m. me, I would like to talk with you about which, if any other parts you might want to sell so I can start a spares collection. Very grateful to all the helpful members here !

Steve, is this what you're looking for?  The stainless trim for the edge of the lower (access) panel?

Hi Steve,
Beleive it or not I had every part you needed but found no one as into dishwashers as me and tossed most of them. I do however still have the chrome pull bar, heating system, and motor. They came from a KDI portable model but I believe may work for you. If interested let me know and I can get you pics of everything I have.

Sent you an email, Howard!

. . . We immediately, after I started this thread, started working long hours, six days per week, so,I am not online much. Thanks to all for helping me out, if I can finagle an 8 hour day soon, I will call/email/ p.m. all who have graciously responded. I am just too exhausted, we are working twelves, and 8 or 10 on Saturdays.

Cheers,
Steve
