I have two older machines, a Maytag A412 mid-80s, and a Kenmore (Whirlpool made) 110.26902692 mid 90s, and both still answer the bell--but with some groans and sounds. Nothing major and they both clean clothes real well. Anyhow, when the time comes to repair them, should they be repaired? Or retired? Or, which of the two is worth throwing money at if one is worth saving. Lastly, are good replacement parts available for these machines, or are they obsolete and are needed to be pulled from other machines.
Just trying to get an idea of how much time, money, and effort those machines are worth. They are used occasionally, but are not the everyday washer. My wife likes her Speed Queen and that is the end of that story. (Top loader, mechanical controls.)
I think parts availability for both is about the same. If I were to give one the edge in that regard, it would be the Kenmore, but I have a soft spot for vintage Maytag build quality.
