Today has been great weather so I decided to get a bit more done with the keymatic since we had a mini meet in at mine earlier this year !

So I repainted the plinth , added s/h non original inlet valves and pipes, discovered a hole in front panel and plugged it , renewed pressure vessel pipes , and tried to repair broken pressure pot.

It if glue dries on pressure pot ok will be water tight. So I will remove transit brackets and see if it can do a full cycle tomorrow if I have time !

If anyone has a good pressure pot ?? Ha ha I'd love it

Richard

Well it's water tight

ricky5050's profile picture
Today I tried running full cycles and firstly it's water tight all but a drip less than I teaspoon which I can live with.
Now then it seems to only want to fill for both wash n rinse cycles with cold. I'm wondering if it's been altered to do that ? If I cannot change this I'll connect it to a y connector to that cold pipe but connect the two parts of y to hot n cold so i can trick it to fill with hot for wash then cold for rinse.

It seemed to do everything it should just not automatically. It fills tumbles pulsates empties and spins but you have manually advance it by pulling the key card for second.

Because if this it's hard to get it to do the second fill to position 2 where the tub lies right back but it does it itself on rinse 2 so I know it the pressure sensors work etc.

Speaking to friends it seems it's just a glitch in key card reader to make it move along the programme itself.

Fun fun fun

Richard

Video 4 pulsator action

On programme 1 the pulsator kicks in. I know the water level should be higher see earlier messages but looks good

Hi Richard

Depending on the key plate you're using, some are cold fill only. I've even got an Aussie special that is cold fill cold wash. Does it heat once it fills?

Cheers

Nathan

To be honest I didn't leave it long enough. It looks like it should but I didn't leave it long enough. I'll try next time

Thanks for info

Transit bar on?

Hi Richard

Well done on your progress so far, looking at the first video it looks like you still have the red horizontal transit bar on? If you have this would stop it tilting back and perhaps filling to it's next level? Certainly needs to come off though if you put clothes in it on spin.

I think (although not 100% sure) that a red key plate is cold fill only. There were different colours, black is mixed fill I believe. Perhaps another member knows more?

Anyway, you have inspired me to get to work with mine, my grey kick plate has been (in the past) painted terrible white and is very rusty. Did you use a particular grey colour?

Cheers, Alan

Hi Alan

Yes it did have transit brackets on in first few videos once I carried back into shed I removed them. I was nervous incase pipe split. But I've been slathering it in liquid glycerin and that has really softened it up. I'll have a look into different colored keyplates. Good luck with yours I think we know of about 8 still surviving but maybe not all working.

The grey was a one from a car shop that looked as close as original but not a set car shade.

Thanks again

Richard
