I'm thinking its November of 67 if I'm reading the information correctly from this chart.

And this is what I got from the appliance dating sight;

Brand: Maytag
Type: Clothes Washer
Country: USA
Model: J2L
Serial: 58905DY
According to the serial number this product may have been manufactured

November of 1962.

I hope this helps you.

CONGRATULATIONS on a pretty maytag square-tub wringer washer
:o)

I don't think this model was manf in 1962. My moms Maytag was manf in June of 1962 and the wringer release bar is red.

The wringer head might have been changed from another machine. The agitate control knob is red as it probably should be.

What color is the agitator? Many of these have been changed out to the aqua blue but if yours is black that would but in in the per-1966 arena.

November of 1967 is the date.
Not sure why there is a red gyratator activator knob since these were changed to torquoise in January of 1966.
The logo decal is the sure giveaway that this machine is 1966 or later. If it were 1962 it would have had the red "Maytag" emblem as shown below in the pic.
