I am in need of asecond washer/dryer and finally decided on an older Kitchenaid Washer/Dryer set.. I think they look better than the whirlpools and have more class than a kenmore..Plus I like the top mount lint filter

IS there any reason I shouldn't hunt for a pre 1998/1999 KA Washer/Dryer?

My other ideas for washers are: Neptune, Center Dial Tag or a Filter Flo.. no matter what im getting a whirlpool hamper door styler dryer

Here is the set I am looking at, its in Seattle though... Gonna have to see if i can finaggle abit or somthing since its a 3.5 hour drive up and $60 in gas

I think I could find something better to do with my time and money than to drive for 7 hours to end up with a used KA washer/dryer set.

That'd be a nice set.  Has all the "classic" KA laundry features.  Extra Wash cycle should run a short prewash, brief soak, partial drain, then refills and continues the Heavy cycle.

I had a KitchenAid top-loader for a few months in 1989 and it was a fine machine. The KA's dual-action agitator and fins are larger than the one used in Kenmore/Whirlpools; consequently, the KA's fast agitation speed is the same as medium speed on a KM/WP. In other words, it doesn't thrash quite as fast.

The heart wants what it wants. Go for it!

These are wonderful machines. I still use the dryers, one gas and one electric, that match my black control panel washer, but mostly use FLs now, although the washer is still connected. The only thing I will say is that the dryers are too large to dry one or two small items; they just ride the vanes, but regular and large loads dry great. These washers are the best direct drive machines WP made.

The ad expired this am and its not relisted yet.. But i am keeping looking for a KA Set and see if this re appears...

Frigilux that is good to know.. I primairly will use this for towels, shorts and such... Or soaking my sheets...

Driving 7 hours back and forth to seattle is no big issue, i just coordinate pickup on a day i have treatment (i go to U of W for medical treatment)

Did the ever make a grey/dark speckled tub model?

Are the newer (98 to 2003/2004ish) just as good
