I found this beautiful machine free on Craigslist. A 20 min drive from Niagara Falls to Buffalo. This machine came from a cluttered basement of a beautiful 2 family home in North Buffalo. The 35 year old business man left it behind after he and his wife moved out saying they bought a home with a FRONT loader washer dryer in it. I brought my friend with muscle and of course my muscle lol. I opened the lid there was enough tide plus a touch of downy poured all in the bleach dispenser to washer ten loads of clothes all caked on!! I took it home and washed it off test filled it..washed so quietly!! Nice woooo wooooo sound but quiet!! Took me back to eighth grade when my friend and I walked in her home I heard the sound of a "whirlpool" clicking on to spin!! When I investigated it was a double duty!! My question is is it a good daily driver ? And-- how much better would it clean than my direct drive ? Kitchen aide & kenmores ? What year is this? So heavy too 😄

you got an Imperial there, most likely TOL with everything on it...5 or 6 cycle, variable water level, 5 temp options....or course two speed

that double duty will scrub anything....

.....and last of the belt drives.....1983-86....

give us the model and serial, and we can be more exact.....

this will make a great daily driver.....

many parts still available.....but if it ain't broke, don't fix it....

eventually someday you may need a belt or pump.....but don't sweat it until its needed.....

nice find there.......

I've heard quiet Kenmores before, but never a Whirlpool, so congratulations -- you got yourself a special machine there!

You've got a great machine there. Would definitely put it in as daily driver.
Congrats on the excellent find!

Awesome score! You're gonna love the super Surgilator with the wings at the bottom. Had one on an '84 Whirlpool and boy could it turn over a huge load.

A true big-load washer - congrats!

My son used to have a twin size comforter topped with heavy denim fabric. The large capacity WP was the only top load washer that could turn over that comforter and get it cleaner than any other washer. You're going to love washing in this machine.
