Check it out, from 1953, a Whirlpool stacked washer below, dryer up top. Notice that the dryer belt wraps around the drum, I did not think they came up with that idea until 65 or 66. It also drives an intake fan and exhaust fan. I never knew anyone did a stacked unit until decades later, and I never knew WP tried the belt around the drum this early, then didn't use it for over 10 years.
Has anyone ever seen this unit? Very cool.

Also, Fig 7 in the drawing, what is it?

That was a really cool patent. I'm curious about the blowers too, I wonder if they were trying to increase airflow?

Dual blowers,

Some early Whirlpool electric dryers had 2 blowers, one was direct drive from the front end of the motor, the other was the normal belt drive set up. Both blowers were smaller then on the later single blower models.

All WP dryers had the belt around the drum drive in 1961 and on.
