THANKS

Re: 100-Load Lint Catcher:

This was an Idea, gone sour of WP's. It was quite a noisy Dryer, I found out by checking out a Floor Model and they had quite a few problems with it, but I'm not sure what though. I had found out from a Salesman Friend.

It was a pretty good idea, as far as I'm concerned, except for still worrying about excess Lint and Fires quite possibly happening, if one was to even forget to clean it's Lint Container out, or at least to check on it periodically.

If I were to see one at a 2nd Hand Shop, I might be tempted if the price was right to get one, just to check out further.

Peace and Happy WP Laundry Times, Steve

Fisher & Paykel's SmartLoad toploading dryer has a similar system. The filter self-cleans by a scraper arm that deposits the lint into a large-capacity bucket set at the side of the drum. Only needs dumping when it fills up. How often depends on usage.

Re: Whirlpool 100-Lint Load Dryer follow-up:

I just found my older Whirlpool Brochures, with the Dryer in question. It was introduced in 1996 and was available as Model #LEL/LGL-8858-D {Clean-Touch Controls} and it was discribed as:

Exclusive Easy Clean 100 Lint Collection System. The largest Lint Basket in the Industry, collects up to 100-Loads of Lint. No need to empty the Basket after every Load. Check the Lint level by looking through the Window on the Lid Opening. To empty, lift the Lid, pull out the Basket, turn over and the Lint falls out easily, you never have to touch the Lint...

It was also available later on in 1997/1998 as a Clean-Touch Model #LEL/LGL-8858-E and a Mechanical Control Model #LEL/LGL-7646-E

Peace and Happy, Fun Laundry Days, Steve
