Well another Hoover and a bit more modern than the keymatic!!
A Hoover ecologic automatic washer in almond. I'm sorry I don't have the model or serial numbers as my phone went flat. It was owned by a little old lady and is immaculate! It only requires a clean , the little Hoover badge and to sort out why it won't spin ? It may need new carbon brushes but I'll take any advice from you guys !! I'd love to get matching dryer or see any pics of brochures of that range?

Thanks again

Richard

Very tidy, I have the white version but its the later version model numbered AC220 instead of A3954 but theres no actuall difference other than that betwen them. If you want I can scan the manual up in the week. I also have the matching dryer as can be seen in the pic, Im certain there is a beige dryer but Ive not seen one.

Will msg you about sending a Hoover badge shortly.

Chris

P.s Creaseguard, does that cancell the spins? Just a thought, never actually used the option on mine.

Harmony Beige if you please! :-)

Nice Ecologic 1200 there, Richard. Model A3956 according to the brochure.

We have an A3960 Ecologic 1300 down here, bought for £9.99, which was disposed of due to no spin. A new set of brushes sorted that issue out and it then saw a few months service as Rob's daily driver.

Then years of dormancy and storage took there toll and now she won't spin anymore :-( Rusty timer contacts, or a mucky pressure vessel? Haven't the foggiest and it will have to wait till the house is sorted, before we find out.

Ecologics are surprisingly sparse on the preserved front, particularly in Almon' .... erm ..... Harmony Beige! Are there any round door Ecologic's in people's collections?

There were two matching dryers - standard D6724 and de luxe D6728.
Will set to work with posting the brochure.

Hope you get it working.
Paul
p.s the spring to your drawer handle flap might be floating around behind the powder drawer fascia! Might have a spare floating around down here somewhere.

p.p.s Hi Chris - Creaseguard is just Rinse Hold, by another name. The button is pressed to move the programme on into final spin.

Shall post the brochure the laborious way, so as to hopefully make it more legible.

Thanks for that ! Yes it looks a lovely machine ! It will
have to wait a wee while before I explore the problem.

I'd like a matching dryer if poss but do none of them have heat settings ? Only auto sense ?

Just wondered

Richard

Cultural question

supersuds's profile picture
The Hoovers were made in Wales, but the front panels say "Made in England." Or was there no distinction? Am I overthinking this? ;)

I think you will find that, for those which have it, it says "Made In Britain"

Okay, that settles it. I'm going back to the eye doctor.

Easy enough mistake to make.

In fact Hoover UK made a great play of the fact that their products were made in the UK - at least those that WERE actually made in the UK with Union Jack emblems and on occasions a bull dog wearing a Union Jack jacket for about the first half of the 1980s.

Now she spins.

ricky5050's profile picture
This afternoon I had another tinker with the ecologic , I read on an appliance site that they won't spin if there's a blocked pressure system. I took the back off and the pressure vessel pipe comes off the tub drain hose. Removing it and sticking in my finger in it relieved a gunky blockage and when all put back together it roared in to life. Ive missed the jump in spin up to 1200 sadly. It does a slight pause then full ramp up. I popped a few dishwasher tablets in the drum and did a boil wash. I was impressed with how quickly it came to the right temperature. A clean and wax of the casing and fixing the drawer flap and it's virtually like new. I'm really please with it.

It seems to be made in 1991 - I was only 18!!

Well done Richard it looks like new!!!
So nice to get a machine that only needs a little tinkering instead of a major refurb !!!! Enjoy it !!!!

Best wishes Darren
