Hate to tell 'em, but it's not a 50s model. More like mid 70s to a max of 1982-ish (but I'm basing that on old memories of these things and what looks like black plastic kick panel on front. Maybe one of you knows for sure?? No fake woodgrain on freezer door shelves, thank God. Nice LOOKING, but has cooling probs, so $100 is pretty questionable.

Sale txt: "Super cute mid century1950's-1960's light pink fridge and freezer. Turns on and fan runs, but is not currently cooling. Great condition otherwise!!

Must be able to pick up. Cash only. Thanks for looking!"

Do you think that's the original color?

If it is a repaint,

they at least took the time to do the central mullion and inner case frame. Did Amana ever even make pink option after circa 1960?

from the early 70s, you will need your own power plant to run this beast, most SXSs from this era use around FOUR times the power per month of a new modern SXS.

Get them to throw in the first three years electrical usage, which would be around $450 at average US rates.

How can anyone look at the inside of that fridge and still think "mid century"?

It's "comforting" to know you're safe...that would never fit in your Mercedes.

At least they didn't claim that it once belonged to Jayne Mansfield, but maybe only because they've never heard of her.

So John, when did Amana start making the fridges that they claimed cost no more to operate than an ordinary light bulb?  Or did they mean a 300 watt flood lamp?

I do love the Mercedes--unlike my long-gone truck, it keeps me from getting into trouble by dragging home things like this which I do not need…but if I'm careful, I can *just* about get a dishwasher into the trunk with some creative maneuvering and bungee cords…
