What Bob said -- and . . . it opens downward to create a shelf/service bar arrangement without significant loss of cooling in the rest of the cabinet. GE had a name for this feature, but it escapes me now. I'm pretty sure the space behind it inside the door is large enough to hold a gallon container of milk.
I think the first fridge posted is an Amana. IIRC, for a while, Amana was the only manufacturer turning out BF models. |

that door is a convenience center.....which is also somewhat sectioned off with its own vent to keep items, like milk, cooler than the rest of the fridge...
probably one of the best fridges I ever owned......wanted another when I replaced my original, nothing today has anything close to the features this one did.....I had the Kenmore Limited version.....was the biggest available at the time at 27cuft |
