Overflow wash time...look closely!

Couldn't resist...perhaps they should have made a 2-ring agitator cap? ;-)

And now...

Here's the AWESOME Penta-Swirl agitator that Greg sent, along with a pregnant Roto-Swirl and Easy Repair-Master!!! Thanks Greg!!!

Glenn & I tried it with water yesterday (it was his first time to watch a Penta-Vane in action as well) and the action looked good...yesterday I tried it with clothes! Needless to say I'll be using this one for a while!

Oops...meant to say "Friday" instead of "yesterday" for the water-test.

Here's the maiden load all ready to go. The brown shirt and dark jeans you see are what I wore on the Frigidaire trip...very dirty!

Austin, is the Franknmore a large capacity machine or is it the standard capacity?

Very nice Austin, that cap is the 1961-1962 3-Ring Agitator cap.

Penta-Swirling!

glad you like the "Swirl", I always liked that agitator in the big-tub Kenmo's - just more graceful than it's cousins.

Hmmm. Glad you like the penta-swirl. I guess I always assumed that they were not so effective, based on little water action near the top.

Coudl I be *gasp* wrong?

Penta-swirl

WOW. Now Frankenmore has a late 70s look. Very cool and fun waveulations. Those flood protectors turn the famous fill spray into a pee stream lol. Must take LOONGGG to fill up.

Hi Jamie, the Frankenmore is a large-capacity machine...although unless I'm using the Dual-Action or Surgilator, there's absolutely no turnover with a full load! I'll be interested to see how well the Penta-Swirl works.

Hi Steve, I agree, the 5-vane Kenmore agitators wouldn't seem like they would be effective, but the base is much wider than the other agitators. One thing I noticed on the Penta-Swirl was that its base vanes are a bit larger than the Penta-Vane's. The Penta-Vane is very deceiving; on small and medium loads the action is incredible, but put a full load in on the high water level and nothing happens. All of the items on the top hardly move at all, but whatever is on the bottom gets thrashed around. I'm going to try the Penta-Swirl out with a full load later this week and see what happens.

Hi Jason, after the December wash-in I turned the hoses around on that machine which helped out a lot as far as the flow rate is concerned. You can't really tell in that picture because of the flash, but it's filling much faster now. To say that these hoses are unreliable and won't last is an understatement! Friday, Glenn & I were washing in the AMP and it didn't spray rinse. The flood protector device tripped and each time I turned the water off & on it tripped again...which means that hose won't work anymore. So today I picked up some SS braided hoses to replace those as well as the hoses on the 1-18, as it was filling abnormally slow as well. I can only imagine these things in a normal-use situation; wouldn't last a week until the machine stopped filling!

Frigidaire 1-18 Filter

My mom had that very same washer in the early '70s, same color and everything. What a wonderful machine! But I have vivid memories of her trying to clean out that awful filter after each wash. What a nightmare it was! The "teeth" would hang onto the lint for dear life!!

Great fun Austin!. Love the 1-18 "NEW" lint filter. I need one too for my 1-18.

Show the pregenant roto swirl sometime!

Steve

Austin - the new parts look like fun! I sure get a kick out of the crazy fun things you do with the Frankenmore. Such a well-used machine!
