Hi all,

Yesterday I took delivery of yet another appliance that bears the famous Hotpoint Liberator marque and a particularly uncommon appliance at that - a dishwasher!

I never thought a Liberator dishwasher would ever turn up as even the entry level model would have been a luxury to own in the late 1970s never mind a more upmarket model like this. This one came all the way from Dundee with a little assistance along the way. The soft water has been very kind to it and it has obviously been looked after hence it's longevity. It was made during December 1978 so it could have been a January sales present?

As most of you can guess, this is a BSH/Bosch product produced at the request of Hotpoint and marked the beginning of a partnership that ended in the early 2000s after BSH/Bosch ceased producing dishwashers for Hotpoint. The build quality is quite solid - I only thought my Hotpoint 71340 from the New Generation range was a solid feeling machine but this one takes things up a notch or two. That being said, it does have a minor issue that should be easily resolved so hopefully in the coming weeks I will have it installed and I will be "Liberated" from doing dishes by hand haha!

James

PS: The lower panel is there, as per usual I started investigating before thinking on taking pictures.

The purple handle is a nice touch!

Lovely purple buttons that appear to be exempt from the common fading and disintegrating rule that blights the laundry range (must be the German quality plastic!).

Finally, the interior featuring variable spray pressure on the lower arm for taking care of your glassware etc. and a height adjustable top basket allowing the machine to facilitate larger pots and pans in the bottom basket.

I hope purple don't end up on our appliances here.  Congratulations on the new dishwasher.

Wow, thats the same internals as our 80's Simpson dishwashers.

We had an early plastic tub Simpson from the mid 70's that was made in West Germany and supposedly Bosch, but I'd never realised the 80's and 90's models were also still a bosch design. They only discontinued that wash pump system about 10 years ago here.

This is what they looked like in the late 80's early 90's, but the cabinet/washpump was the same for nearly 25 years.
