I've tried Googling the origins of the name/company. I understand it's part of Whirlpool but other than that there's no history of the acronym. I saw a reference to Factory Select Parts. In the same way that Delco and Frigidaire were part of GM, I just wanted to know the who, what, and where of the company.

Factory Specified Parts

Not "Select".

Many manufacturers of consumer goods from automobiles to appliances have (or had)a parts division. Whirlpool calls theirs "FSP" from the fact it produces/stocks factory specified parts designed to meet the same specifications as the original and match performance. This as opposed to generic off the shelf parts made by others.

I've noticed those FSP parts are part of the original build so you really can trust them when you see an FSP part.

Whirlpool use the FSP logo on their replacement parts since the late 1950s, at one point they also said that it meant ( forstall service problems )

I think one reason Whirlpool labeled all their parts packages with the FSP logo, was that they were supplying parts for Kenmore also, and used the same package.
