I purchased a KitchenAid KDI 15 about 18 months ago. It was used lightly in a cabin in Northwestern Connecticut. It has worked wonderfully since we installed it. Lately, sometimes, it does not drain (or water enters after cycle). When we open the machine there is sometimes almost a full base of water. Putting it on the last Rinse Cycle empties it but it continues to happen in subsequent loads...any ideas...
It appears that the dial is slightly advanced into a new wash cycle which I suspect may be the issue..

Does your sink have an air gap on the deck through which the dishwasher drains? These can clog. There are You Tube videos on how to clean them. If you don't have an air gap, but the dishwasher drains into a disposer, the drain line can get clogged and need cleaning. This machine uses a drain valve that opens to allow the machine to drain. You can check that to make sure it is not clogged.

Best of luck.

Mystery Fill!

It sounds like the fill solenoid is beginning to fail and is allowing water to leak in while the machine is off. Try turning the supply line off and see if it stays empty. If it does, then just replace the valve and you should be okay. From what you describe, the drain impeller works fine and drains the machine completely so you won't have to mess with that.
The fill valves are still available thru most parts outlets.
